The popularity of "Stoner" seems to be set on indefinite slow burn -- it was recommended in a Facebook group I'm part of a few years ago and I read it last year, and have seen it pop up a few times since. I'm glad it's making its rounds because it is a very good book for all the reasons you mentioned.
